Key details:

SWiMS 2017 Dates/Time:

– June 26-28, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (Georgia Tech)
– June 29-30, 8:30 am (29th) to late evening (30th) (Sapelo Island Field trip)

Venue:

– Clough Undergraduate Learning Center (Georgia Tech campus)
– please meet in Clough 131 at 9:00 on day 1
– lab activities will be in Clough 487

Schedule:

– the SWiMS schedule is provided here

 

Parking/Transit:

– please park in the Area 3 visitor parking (~7 min walk from Clough)

– parking vouchers will be distributed on day 1 of the workshop
– carpooling is highly recommended if possible
– MARTA: the closest MARTA stop is either Midtown or North Station; the Georgia Tech Trolley runs regularly between the Midtown station and the Tech campus: https://pts.gatech.edu/tech-trolley-and-midnight-rambler

Lunch:

– lunch will be provided during the workshop
– both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options will be available
if you have any dietary restrictions/food allergies, please email your details to Zoe Pratte at zoe.pratte@biology.gatech.edu

Attire:

– you will be participating in lab activities, some of which will involve mud, water, and chemicals (nothing toxic) – please dress accordingly
– long pants are recommended

Sapelo field trip:

– a detailed overview of what to expect on this trip will be provided on day 1

– you will be invited to join a SWiMS Facebook group
– joining is optional, but Facebook is a good venue for sharing questions, photos, and discussion before, during and after the workshop
